Earl K. Long Memorial Park

“I’m the last of the red hot papas in politics. When I’m gone, there won’t be anymore.”

Such was a favorite saying of Earl Kemp Long, one of the most colorful politicians in Louisiana history.

Earl K. Long Memorial Park is a lasting tribute to Louisiana politics and the "last of the red hot papas." Enjoy the park’s picnic pavilion and imagine being a part of the crowd gathering for a community picnic featuring the political outpouring of Earl Kemp Long. The park is symmetrical in design - from its eight-foot bronze statue of Long at the apex of a hedged circular walk to its picnic pavilion, and is a favorite setting for weddings, picnics and city celebrations.
